Regular Season Round 20: Levice - Rieker KN 89-87

The most exciting game of round 20 in the SBL took place in Komarno. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Rieker KN (12-4) to fifth ranked Levice (12-6) 89-87 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Rieker KN. 32 personal fouls committed by Rieker KN helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian power forward Nemanja Miljkovic (204-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 17 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Serbian forward Marko Stojadinovic (204-89) contributed with 24 points and 5 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. American guard Bernard Thompson (190-93, college: FGCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Slovenian forward Sinisa Bilic (201-89) added 17 points in the effort for Rieker KN. Rieker KN's coach Andelko Mandic tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Levice maintains fifth position with 12-6 record. Defending champion Rieker KN keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Levice are looking forward to face higher ranked Esprit Kosice (#3) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Rieker KN will play against the league's second-placed Inter Bratislava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
