Regular Season Round 12: La Fecha - Clavijo 82-77

There was a small surprise in Arroyo Encomienda where fourteenth ranked La Fecha (1-7) defeated 12th ranked Clavijo (2-6) 82-77 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But Clavijo won second period 17-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. La Fecha dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Clavijo's 32. La Fecha forced 26 Clavijo turnovers. The best player for the winners was guard Jorge Martinez (181-96) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Guard Millan Lopez (185-94) chipped in 15 points. La Fecha's coach Roberto Gonzalez used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Daniel Lopez Villanueva (195-89) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and Lithuanian Mantvydas Staselis (189-94) added 25 points respectively. Newly promoted La Fecha maintains fourteenth position in Group A-A with 1-7 record. It was Clavijo's fifth loss in a row. They dropped to the ninth place with six games lost. La Fecha will face higher ranked Burgos (#9) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
