Regular Season Round 11: Peristeri GS - Promitheas 69-73

There was no surprise in Athens where 15th ranked Peristeri GS (1-8) was defeated by fourth ranked Promitheas (8-3) 73-69 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Peristeri GS won third quarter 26-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Peristeri GS 44-32 including 33 on the defensive glass. Peristeri GS was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Angelos Tsamis (192-81) who scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Bosnian-British center Fahro Alihodzic (208-89, college: UAB) chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Promitheas' coach Makis Giatras used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. British forward Robert Gilchrist (206-90, college: Florida St.) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and guard Michalis Polytarchou (190-83) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Peristeri GS players scored in double figures. Promitheas moved-up to third place. Peristeri GS lost their seventh game in a row. Peristeri GS at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Promitheas will face Psyhiko (#11) in Athens in the next round and are hoping to win another game.
