Regular Season Round 25: Oita H.Devils - Sendai 89ers 74-81

BJ League top team - Sendai 89ers (17-6) added another victory to their record on Saturday. This time they beat tenth ranked Oita Heat Devils (5-14) 81-74. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 48-37 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Sendai 89ers outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 56-33 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 25 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) chipped in 24 points, 17 rebounds and 6 assists. Sendai 89ers' coach Shuto Kawachi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds and guard Toshino Tatsuhiko (185-88) scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Sendai 89ers maintains first place with 17-6 record, which they share with Shimane SM. Loser Oita Heat Devils dropped to the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Sendai 89ers will have a break next round. Oita Heat Devils will play again at home against the league's leader Sendai 89ers (#1) and hope to win that game.
