Date: December 20, 2015
Sixth-ranked Valladolid Univ. (4-4) made lots of trouble for top-ranked Pielagos (8-0) in Renedo de Pielagos. Pielagos managed to secure only two-point victory 57-55. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Valladolid Univ. took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Pielagos had a 22-12 second period charge getting the lead and Valladolid Univ. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 55-57. 28 personal fouls committed by Valladolid Univ. helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by Senegalese center Abdoulaye Seck (205-92) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and center Julio De Assis (200-92) supported him with 8 points and 9 rebounds. Even 9 points and 8 rebounds by forward Mario Rodriguez (-95) did not help to save the game for Valladolid Univ.. Power forward Alvaro Encinas (202-94) added 5 points and 10 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pielagos have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A-A with 8-0 record. Valladolid Univ. at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. Pielagos' next round opponent will be Mondragon (#10) on the road and are hoping to win another game.
