Regular Season Round 13: Paulistano - Bauru 80-77

There was a change at the NBB leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Paschoalotto/Bauru (10-2). They were edged by second ranked Paulistano (10-1) 80-77 on Sunday night. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Paschoalotto/Bauru. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Paschoalotto/Bauru won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Paulistano forced 19 Paschoalotto/Bauru turnovers. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 assists for the winners and the former international center Caio Silveira (211-87, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Paulistano's coach Gustavo Conti used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international center Rafael Hettsheimer (206-86) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and international guard Alex Garcia (191-80, agency: Interperformances) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Paulistano and five Paschoalotto/Bauru players scored in double figures. Paulistano keeps a position of league leader. Paschoalotto/Bauru at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Paulistano. Paschoalotto/Bauru will play next round against Liga Sorocaba trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Paulistano will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
