Regular Season Round 4: Santo Andre - Sampaio 63-82

An interesting game for Sampaio (6-2) which played road game in Santo Andre against 4th ranked Santo Andre (2-6). Second ranked Sampaio had an easy win 82-63. The game was mostly controlled by Sampaio. Santo Andre managed to win fourth quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sampaio dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Santo Andre's 36. They outrebounded Santo Andre 44-31 including a 32-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sampaio looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Nadia Gomes Calhado (193-89) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). American guard Erica Wheeler (170-91, college: Rutgers) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Sampaio's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international center Tatiana Conceicao (187-81, college: SE Missouri St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international forward Jaqueline Silvestre (178-86) added 16 points in the effort for Santo Andre. Sampaio have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Santo Andre lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
