Regular Season Round 10: Al Rayyan - Al Jaysh 79-75
Date: December 29, 2015
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Doha: Al Rayyan (#3) and Al Jaysh (#4). Al Rayyan (8-1) won against visiting Al Jaysh (6-3) 79-75. It looked good early as Al Jaysh took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Al Rayyan had a 21-19 second period charge getting the lead and Al Jaysh was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 75-79. Al Rayyan forced 22 Al Jaysh turnovers. Strangely Al Jaysh outrebounded Al Rayyan 38-26 including 28 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Kwame Alexander (201-90, college: CS San Bernar.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) contributed with 26 points for the winners. Fadi Abilmona replied with 32 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Al Jaysh. Al Jaysh's coach Dragoslav Milovanovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Al Sadd and Al Gharafa. Al Jaysh at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost.
