Regular Season Round 16: Koeln Rh.Stars - Bayer Giants 88-76

Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Koeln Rh.Stars (9-6) beat at home 15th ranked Bayer Giants (3-13) 88-76. The game was mostly controlled by Koeln Rh.Stars. Bayer Giants was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Americans were the main players on the court. Quite impressive performance for guard David Downs (188-91, college: Seattle Pacific, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 5 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Guard Lakeem Jackson (196-90, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 22 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) for the winners. Koeln Rh.Stars' coach Arne Woltmann used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and swingman Ricky Kreklow (201-92, college: Creighton) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for Bayer Giants. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Koeln Rh.Stars moved-up to sixth place. Bayer Giants lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 13 games lost. Koeln Rh.Stars' next round opponent will be higher ranked Kirchheim Knights (#4) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Bayer Giants will play against Gladiators (#10) in Trier and hope to win that game.
