The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Universidad de Concepcion won third quarter 28-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Universidad de Concepcion used huge pressure winning it 20-19 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 23-30. Universidad Catolica dominated on the defensive end, holding Universidad de Concepcion to just 7 points in second quarter. 28 personal fouls committed by Universidad de Concepcion helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Reginald Larry (198-86, college: Boise St.) who had a double-double by scoring 45 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Cristian Diaz chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Tracy Robinson (201-86, college: Loyola, IL) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import center Yamene Coleman (208-86, college: Troy, agency: Interperformances) added 14 points and 12 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Universidad de Concepcion's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help.
