Regular Season Round 29: Niigata Albirex - Osaka Evessa 64-85

Another exciting game was between fifth ranked Osaka Evessa and 4th placed Niigata Albirex where Osaka Evessa (17-9) crushed Niigata Albirex (16-10) on the road with 21-point difference 85-64. It looked good early as Niigata Albirex took a 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Osaka Evessa had a 25-15 second period charge getting the lead and Niigata Albirex was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-85. Osaka Evessa players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. Swingman Soma Takuya (181-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points. Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) contributed with 15 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds and Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Niigata Albirex. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Osaka Evessa maintains fifth place with 17-9 record. Niigata Albirex lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
