There was an upset when higher ranked Elitzur Yavne (5-7) lost to fourteenth ranked Hasharon (4-8) in Ramat Hasharon 83-88 on Saturday. Hasharon looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Elitzur Yavne was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward Billy McShepard (208-87, college: Valdosta St., agency: Blacktop Management) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds. Point guard Ido Stolero (189-88) contributed with 23 points and 7 assists for the winners. American Chris Gaston (201-89, college: Fordham) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Yaniv Solomon (-94) added 25 points in the effort for Elitzur Yavne. Hasharon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Elitzur Yavne lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Hasharon will face higher ranked Maccabi Raanana (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
