Regular Season Round 15: Palermo - Cassino 89-70

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Cassino (9-6) was outscored on the road by third ranked Palermo (12-3) 89-70 on Sunday. Palermo forced 22 Cassino turnovers. It was a good game for forward Riccardo Antonelli (203-88) who led his team to a victory with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Point guard Daniele Merletto (175-93) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Palermo players scored in double figures. Palermo's coach Gianluca Tucci used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Daniele Grilli (191-87) answered with 22 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and power forward Luca Ianes (203-80, agency: SPORTlab Agency) added 12 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Cassino. Palermo maintains third place in B with 12-3 record having just two points less than leader Forli, which they share with Bergamo. Loser Cassino keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Palermo will face Scafati Cesarano (#5) at home in the next round. Cassino will play against Maddaloni and hope to win that game.
