There was a small surprise in Tehran where fifth ranked Chemidor (11-5) defeated second-ranked Naft Abadan (12-5) 77-67 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 10 points at the halftime before their 45-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Chemidor forced 21 Naft Abadan turnovers. Naft Abadan was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Amir Sedighi (203-93) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. The former international point guard Farid Aslani (183-88) chipped in 18 points. Four Chemidor players scored in double figures. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds and the former international Mehrad Atashi (191-86) added 19 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Naft Abadan's coach Hemad Sameri tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Chemidor maintains fifth place with 11-5 record. Loser Naft Abadan keeps the second position with five games lost. Chemidor will face Samen (#7) in Mash'had in the next round. Naft Abadan will play at home against Shah.Tabriz (#10) and hope to win that game.
