The game in Guanajuato was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Halcones Rojos (14-10) played at the court of 6th ranked Abejas (10-14). Halcones Rojos managed to secure a 5-point victory 86-81 on Monday. Abejas were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 22-12 charge of Halcones Rojos, which allowed them to win the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halcones Rojos made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American swingman Devin Sweetney (198-87, college: St.Francis, PA) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international guard Jose Estrada (194-94, college: High School) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Five Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) who recorded 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) added 19 points respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Halcones Rojos. They maintain fourth place with 14-10 record. Loser Abejas keep the sixth position with 14 games lost. Halcones Rojos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Abejas will play again against Halcones Rojos (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
