There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Volpino (7-9) defeated at home higher ranked Milano Urania (9-6) 90-83 on Wednesday. Volpino made 19-of-22 free shots (86.4 percent) during the game. Milano Urania was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Gionata Zampolli (189-85) who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Francesco Belloni (193-94) who added 19 points and 4 blocks during the contest. Volpino's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side the former international forward Andrea Paleari (202-81) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and naturalized Montenegrin guard Dusan Stijepovic (193-88) scored 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Volpino and four Milano Urania players scored in double figures. Volpino moved-up to ninth place in B, which they share with Pavia. Milano Urania lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with six games lost. Volpino will face Fiorentina (#12) in Firenze in the next round. Milano Urania will play at home against Vicenza (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
