Regular Season Round 13: Venta de Banos - Estela 100-72

There was an upset when higher ranked Estela (6-3) was crushed on the road by twelfth ranked Venta de Banos (3-6) 100-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Venta de Banos. Estela was better in second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Venta de Banos well out of reach of Estela shooting 100.0 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 100.0 percentage. Point guard Miguel Caballero (182-92) fired 29 points (perfect from the field making all ten shots !!!) for the winners. Point guard Juan Pedro Garcia (192-88) chipped in 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four Venta de Banos players scored in double figures. Venta de Banos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pablo Sanchez (198-81) produced 24 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) and American guard Riley Stockton (192-92, college: Seattle Pacific) added 16 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively for lost side. Venta de Banos moved-up to ninth place in Group A-A, which they share with Burgos and Clavijo. Loser Estela keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Venta de Banos will face La Fecha (#14) in Arroyo Encomienda in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Estela will play at home against TAKE Tolosa (#8) and hope to win that game.
