Regular Season Round 13: Gandia Basquet - Myrtia 82-55

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Gandia Basquet (11-1) smashed at home 3rd placed Myrtia (7-4) 82-55 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gandia Basquet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gandia Basquet forced 25 Myrtia turnovers. Forward Daniel Marti (203-89, college: Union, TN) fired 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American forward Carlos Gil (201-93, college: S.Mississippi) chipped in 11 points and 6 rebounds. Worth to mention Marti played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. Point guard Samuel Alcaraz (183-85) produced 15 points and Argentinian-Italian swingman Juan Ignacio Jasen (196-85) added 6 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gandia Basquet maintains first place in Group E with 11-1 record, which they share with Almassera. Newly promoted Myrtia dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. Gandia Basquet will face L`Alfas (#5) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round. Myrtia will play at home against Valencia-2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
