Regular Season Round 24: Mazeikiai - Perlas-MRU 68-62

An interesting game for Mazeikiai (20-4) which hosted in Mazeikiai 4th ranked Perlas-MRU (14-10). First ranked Mazeikiai managed to get a 6-point victory 68-62. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 68-62. 24 personal fouls committed by Perlas-MRU helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for guard Evaldas Saulys (195-93) who led his team to a victory with 33 points (!!!) (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field). Swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (197-90) contributed with 11 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Guard Margiris Normantas (194-96) replied with 14 points and forward Remigijus Sugintas (200-87) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Perlas-MRU. Four Perlas-MRU players scored in double figures. Perlas-MRU's coach Arvydas Gronskis rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Mazeikiai have an impressive 12-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 20-4 record, which they share with Suduva-Mantinga. Perlas-MRU at the other side keeps the fourth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Palanga. Mazeikiai is looking forward to face league's second-placed Suduva-Mantinga in Marijampole in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Perlas-MRU will play at home against Silute and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
