Regular Season Round 14: Dinamo Tbilisi - Kutaisi 68-79

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Dinamo Tbilisi (9-5) at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Kutaisi (9-5) 79-68. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Dinamo Tbilisi. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Kutaisi. Dinamo Tbilisi managed to win third quarter 16-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kutaisi looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Naturalized Azerbaijani forward Davit Barbakadze (203-82) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Giorgi Barbakadze (203-91) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Aubrey McAlpine (196, college: Robert Morris) responded with 21 points and 8 rebounds and international center Giorgi Sharabidze (210-90, agency: Mansfield and Associates) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Dinamo Tbilisi players scored in double figures. Kutaisi moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Dinamo Tbilisi.
