Regular Season Round 13: Ardoi - Santurtzi 67-53

There was a minor upset in Zizur Mayor where much higher ranked Santurtzi (7-2) was defeated by fourth ranked Ardoi (7-2) 67-53 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Ardoi. Santurtzi was better in third quarter 15-3. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ardoi forced 24 Santurtzi turnovers. Strangely Santurtzi outrebounded Ardoi 41-29 including 29 on the defensive glass. Naturalized Ukrainian forward Anton Savitski (196-86) fired 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Guard Miguel Castellano (192-77) chipped in 12 points and 7 rebounds. Ardoi's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Alex Hernandez (190-93) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and forward Juan Torres (196-92) added 2 points and 19 rebounds respectively for lost side. Ardoi moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with Santurtzi and Easo. Ardoi will face Clavijo (#10) in Logrono in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Santurtzi will play at home against the league's leader Pielagos (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
