There was a small surprise in Madrid where thirteenth ranked Villarrobledo (3-7) beat 10th ranked Estudiantes B (3-7) 79-62 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Villarrobledo. Estudiantes B was better in second period 26-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villarrobledo made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. American center Garrick Sims (203-91, college: Lake Erie) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Logan Carson (196, college: McKendree) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. Four Villarrobledo players scored in double figures. Naturalized British David Sainsbury (203-94) produced a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds and guard Diego Gonzalez (188-96) added 14 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Villarrobledo moved-up to tenth place in Group B, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Estudiantes B. Villarrobledo will face Casvi (#12) in Villaviciosa in the next round.
