We should mention about the upset which took place in Baunach, where higher ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (9-8) lost to thirteenth ranked Baunach (7-10) in a road game 67-82 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 49-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Baunach forced 26 BV Chemnitz 99 turnovers. Andreas Obst (192-96, agency: Beo Basket) stepped up and scored 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Johannes Thiemann (203-94) chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds. Baunach's coach Fabian Villmeter used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard Dashaun Wiggins (188-91, college: Portland St.) responded with 17 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and the other American import point guard Virgil Matthews (188-83, college: Montana, agency: Court Side) scored 11 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Baunach moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with ETB Wohnbau. Loser BV Chemnitz 99 dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Nuernberg. Baunach will meet higher ranked Hamburg (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BV Chemnitz 99 will play against Gladiators in Trier and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
