The most surprising game was the first loss of undefeated Marinos (6-1) in Maracay on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked Toros (1-4) 88-84. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Marinos. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 32-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for Toros especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of international center Miguel Marriaga (205-84, agency: Pro Sports) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Andre Barrett (180-82, college: Seton Hall) who added 14 points during the contest. The former international swingman Oscar Torres (198-76, agency: Interperformances) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Jose Vargas (195-82, agency: Pro Sports) scored 17 points. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Toros left bottom position moving up to ninth place. Defending champion Marinos still keep top position with one game lost. Toros are again looking forward to face league's leader Marinos in Puerto La Cruz in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Marinos will have a break next round.
