Rather expected game in San Luis Potosi where 11th ranked Ciudad (6-19) was defeated by ninth ranked Santos (9-19) 101-94 on Tuesday. Santos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ciudad's 34. Santos forced 19 Ciudad turnovers and outrebounded them 45-31 including 34 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Mark Borders (188-82, college: Tampa) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 18 assists. The other American import forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) chipped in 31 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) who recorded 20 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively. Four Santos and five Ciudad players scored in double figures. Santos have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Santos maintains ninth position with 9-19 record. Ciudad lost twelfth consecutive game. Ciudad at the other side, also newcomer in the league, stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. Santos will meet at home Panteras (#10) in the next round. Ciudad will play against Correcaminos in Ciudad Victoria and hope to secure a win.
