Regular Season Round 26: Karlovka - Esprit Kosice 71-68

The most exciting game of round 26 in the SBL took place in Bratislava. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Esprit Kosice (15-9) to seventh ranked Karlovka (6-16) 71-68 on Wednesday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-11. But Esprit Kosice won third quarter 24-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Karlovka won last quarter 16-15. The best player for the winners was forward Lukaas Hoferica (200-89) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Center Ivan Zidzik (208-90, college: NW Nazarene) chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Karlovka's coach Milan Cernicky used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American power forward Reggie Keely (202-91, college: Ohio, agency: Mansfield and Associates) produced 23 points and the former international forward Stanislav Baldovsky (192-89) added 7 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Karlovka maintains seventh position with 6-16 record. Newly promoted Esprit Kosice keeps the fifth place with nine games lost. Karlovka are looking forward to face league's second-placed Inter Bratislava on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Esprit Kosice will have a break next round.
