Regular Season Round 18: Coruna - Ourense 73-90

There was a surprise result when twelfth ranked Ourense (8-10) beat higher ranked Leyma Basquet (8-10) in Coruna 90-73 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Ourense. Leyma Basquet was better in fourth quarter 25-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for point guard Pedro Rivero (186-79) who led his team to a victory with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. Canadian-Bosnian guard Diego Kapelan (190-87, college: McNeese St.) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Sergio Olmos (213-86, college: Temple) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and Georgian Beka Burjanadze (202-94) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Leyma Basquet. Four Leyma Basquet players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Ourense moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Breogan and Coruna. Ourense will face higher ranked Oviedo CB (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
