Regular Season Round 14: Osnabruck - Herner 58-65
Date: January 15, 2016
No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Herner TC (10-4) defeated on the road bottom-ranked Osnabruck (1-13) 65-58. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 15-10 Osnabruck's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 65-58 at the end of the game. Herner TC dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Osnabruck's 30. The former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) notched 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward Kristi Bellock (185-90, college: Texas A&M) supported her with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Even a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) by American forward Katelyn McDaniel (182-93, college: San Diego) did not help to save the game for Osnabruck. Her fellow American import guard Jasmine Thomas (170-91, college: Michigan St.) added 10 points for the hosts. Herner TC moved-up to third place, which they share with Keltern. Osnabruck lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Herner TC's next round opponent will be TH Wohnbau Angels (#9) in Noerdlingen where they are favorite. Osnabruck will play on the road against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg and hope to win that game.
