We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when eleventh ranked Giessen 46ers (8-10) won against at home 10th ranked Phoenix Hagen (9-9) 90-83 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Giessen 46ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Covington (203-91, college: VMI) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Brandon Jefferson (175-91, college: Metro St., agency: Two Points) added 17 points in the effort for Phoenix Hagen. Five Giessen 46ers and four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. Newly promoted Giessen 46ers maintains eleventh position with 8-10 record. Loser Phoenix Hagen keeps the tenth place with nine games lost. Giessen 46ers will face higher ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (#4) in Frankfurt in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
