The game between closely ranked teams ended with eleventh ranked Almeria's (5-9) road victory over 12th ranked Olimpico 64 (3-11) in Madrid 57-48 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 57-48. Almeria dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpico 64's 22. Almeria forced 24 Olimpico 64 turnovers. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. Sara Sanchez (173-93) contributed with 8 points for the winners. Point guard Esther Molinero (165-93) replied with 12 points and 4 steals and forward Irene San Roman (177-92) added 12 points in the effort for Olimpico 64. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Almeria moved-up to tenth place in Group B. Olimpico 64 lost ninth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Almeria will face higher ranked Picken Claret (#9) in Valencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Olimpico 64 will play on the road against Sant Adria in Sant Adria de Besos and hope to win that game.
