Regular Season Round 14: L`Alfas - Gandia Basquet 58-95

Very expected game in Alfas Del Pi where 5th ranked L`Alfas (6-6) was rolled over by first ranked Gandia Basquet (12-1) 95-58 on Saturday. The game without a history. Gandia Basquet led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gandia Basquet forced 20 L`Alfas turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. The best player for the winners was forward Daniel Marti (203-89, college: Union, TN) who scored 16 points. American forward Carlos Gil (201-93, college: S.Mississippi) chipped in 12 points. Marti is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Gandia Basquet players scored in double figures. Iker Benzazoua produced 12 points and 5 rebounds and center Jesus Sanmartin (199-86) added 13 points respectively for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gandia Basquet maintains first position in Group E with 12-1 record. Newly promoted L`Alfas keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Gandia Basquet will face league's second-placed Almassera in Valencia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. L`Alfas will play on the road against Valencia-2 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
