Regular Season Round 27: Nitra - Prievidza 72-133

SBL top team - Prievidza (20-4) had no problems winning another game on Saturday. This time they crushed eighth ranked Nitra (6-18) 133-72. The game without a history. Prievidza led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Nitra's 26 and made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. Prievidza forced 25 Nitra turnovers and outrebounded them 36-16 including a 14-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Prievidza looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Nitra's players. 27 personal fouls committed by Nitra helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Croatian forward Igor Maric (196-85, agency: PEPI SPORT) who led his team to a victory with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Serbian guard Milan Stanojevic (183-86, college: E.Washington, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Forward Ladislav Stojanov (194-88) answered with 15 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Jakub Novysedlak (189-93) added 14 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) in the effort for Nitra. Five Prievidza and four Nitra players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Prievidza maintains first place with 20-4 record, which they share with Inter Bratislava. Nitra at the other side keeps the eighth position with 18 games lost. Prievidza is looking forward to face Rieker KN (#4) in Komarno in the next round. Nitra will play at home against Levice (#3) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
