Regular Season Round 31: Oita H.Devils - Osaka Evessa 76-74 OT

Oita Heat Devils (6-17) outlasted Osaka Evessa (17-10) in overtime by two points 76-74 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Osaka Evessa. Osaka Evessa was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 11-9 charge of Oita Heat Devils, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 12-10. Oita Heat Devils outrebounded Osaka Evessa 62-40 including a 45-30 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Chehales Tapscott (195-90, college: Portland St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 28 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import forward Patrick Simon (203-92, college: Seattle Pacific) helped adding 19 points and 20 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) responded with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and Nigerian-Canadian Olu Ashaolu (200-88, college: Oregon) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Five Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Oita Heat Devils maintains eleventh place with 6-17 record. Loser Osaka Evessa keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. Oita Heat Devils will face again higher ranked Osaka Evessa (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
