There was a surprise result when sixth ranked Shiga L-Stars (17-9) defeated at home second-ranked Shimane Magic (20-8) 92-77 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 30-14 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shiga L-Stars made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH) who scored 21 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Yu Okada (184-83) chipped in 23 points. Five Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. American center Wayne Marshall (211-86, college: Temple) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) added 27 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to third place, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Shimane Magic dropped to the third position with eight games lost. Shiga L-Stars will face Bambitious Nara (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Shimane Magic will play against the league's leader Kyoto Hannar.
