Regular Season Round 32: Shinshu BW - Sendai 89ers 91-78

Top ranked Sendai 89ers (21-7) recorded its seventh loss in Nagano on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by tenth ranked Shinshu BW (10-18) 91-78. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Sendai 89ers. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Shinshu BW looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Sendai 89ers' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Shinshu BW made 11 blocks. The best player for the winners was American forward Michael Bell (206-82, college: Florida Atlantic) who had a double-double by scoring 30 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 blocks. Yasuhiko Wada (181-90) chipped in 20 points. Four Shinshu BW players scored in double figures. American guard Wendell White (198-84, college: UNLV) produced a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds and his fellow American import power forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) added 21 points and 12 rebounds respectively for the guests. Shinshu BW maintains tenth position with 10-18 record. Sendai 89ers at the other side still keep top place with seven games lost. Shinshu BW are looking forward to face higher ranked Fukushima (#5) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Sendai 89ers will play against Niigata Albirex (#4) and are hoping to win this game.
