Regular Season Round 32: Aomori Watts - Niigata Albirex 70-88

Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Niigata Albirex (17-11) won against on the road 9th ranked Aomori Watts (12-16) 88-70 on Sunday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Niigata Albirex's pressure prevailed and they won that period 24-12 extending their advantage to 18 points. Niigata Albirex outrebounded Aomori Watts 42-27 including 31 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Jamaican-American power forward Ryan Reid (204-86, college: Florida St., agency: Comsport) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists. Senegalese center Pape Faye (200-87) chipped in a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Five Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American guard Nile Murry (193-83, college: TCU) produced 23 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Jesse Perry (200-89, college: Arizona) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Aomori Watts' coach Koshirashi Munakata rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Niigata Albirex maintains fourth position with 17-11 record. Loser Aomori Watts keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Sendai 89ers at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Aomori Watts will play against Iwate Big Bulls (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
