The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Marinos as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Marinos smashed 7th ranked Trotamundos in Puerto La Cruz 100-76. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Trotamundos. The game without a history. Marinos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Marinos looked well-organized offensively handing out 36 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Trotamundos' players. 29 personal fouls committed by Trotamundos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Juan Herrera (197-81) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Spanish center German Gabriel (207-80) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Five Marinos players scored in double figures. The former international Dwight Lewis (197-87, college: USC) replied with 24 points and 4 assists and American Musa Abdul-Aleem (196-88, college: Troy) added 7 points in the effort for Trotamundos. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Trotamundos at the other side keep the seventh place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
