The game between closely ranked teams ended with 10th ranked Betanzos' (1-8) road loss to ninth ranked Gijon (2-6) 64-71 on Sunday. Betanzos was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Gijon forced 22 Betanzos turnovers. The best player for the winners was center Armando Alvarez (199-76) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Edmundo Martin (204-91) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Antonio Seijo (193-81) produced 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Jose Miguel Perez (202-96) added 20 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Betanzos' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Gijon maintains ninth position in Group A-B with 2-6 record. Betanzos lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the tenth place with eight games lost. Gijon will face Estudiantes L. (#12) in Lugo in the next round.
