No shocking result in a game when second ranked Naft Abadan (15-5) beat at home 7th ranked Samen (7-13) 89-85 on Monday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. Naft Abadan made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. International Mohammad Hassanzadeh (203-90) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds. The former international Mehrad Atashi (191-86) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Naft Abadan players scored in double figures. Lithuanian power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and the former international point guard Erfan Nasajpour (177-84) added 18 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals in the effort for Samen. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Naft Abadan have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 15-5 record behind leader Petrochimi. Samen lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 13 games lost. Naft Abadan will face Arak (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day.
