Regular Season Round 13: Nishinomiya S. - Hokkaido L. 80-87

There was no surprise in Hyogo where 12th ranked Nishinomiya S. (5-18) was defeated by sixth ranked Hokkaido L. (12-12) 87-80 on Wednesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Nishinomiya S. won fourth quarter 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and guard Asahi Tajima (173-88) chipped in 20 points. Four Hokkaido L. players scored in double figures. Hokkaido L.'s coach Kota Mizuno allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) responded with 32 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Shunki Hatakeyama (170-91) scored 19 points. Hokkaido L. have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 12-12 record. Loser Nishinomiya S. dropped to the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Hokkaido L. will face league's leader Tochigi Brex at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nishinomiya S. will play against Mitsubishi Dolphins (#8) and hope to win that game.
