Regular Season Round 13: Mitsubishi DD - Chiba Jets 77-86

Everything could happen in Nagoya at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Chiba Jets and 7th ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins had identical 8-13 record. But Mitsubishi Dolphins were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Chiba 86-77 on Wednesday night. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-77. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Rick Rickert (211-83, college: Minnesota) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 23 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Chiba Jets (9-13) moved-up to seventh place. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost fifth consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. Chiba Jets will face higher ranked Toshiba Thunders (#4) in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play on the road against Nishinomiya S. (#11) in Hyogo and hope to win that game.
