Regular Season Round 18: Randers - Stevnsgade 94-80
Date: January 21, 2016
Rather expected game when 7th ranked Stevnsgade (3-14) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Randers (8-11) 94-80. The game without a history. Randers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Randers forced 24 Stevnsgade turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Stevnsgade was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) supported him with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Even a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds by American forward Adrian Moss (204-81, college: Florida) did not help to save the game for Stevnsgade. His fellow American import power forward Alonzo Brooks (201-84, college: Central Mo.) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Randers and four Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. Stevnsgade's coach Mickey Dennis rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Randers have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position with 8-11 record. Stevnsgade lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the seventh place with 14 games lost. Randers will play against bottom-ranked SISU (#8) in Copenhagen in the next round. Stevnsgade will play at home against Horsholm and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
