Regular Season Round 15: Koroivos - Apollon Patras 58-59

A very interesting game took place in Koroivos. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 10th ranked Koroivos (6-9) to ninth ranked Apollon Patras (7-8) 59-58 on Saturday evening. Koroivos was ahead by 8 points after three quarters before a 15-6 charge of Apollon Patras, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Koroivos to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a good game for American point guard Kevin Dillard (183-89, college: Dayton) who saved his team from a defeat with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Guard Dimitris Verginis (194-87, agency: Interperformances) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Dwayne Davis (196-89, college: S.Mississippi) answered with 17 points and American-Hungarian point guard Obadiah Trotter (188-84, college: Alabama A&M) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for Koroivos. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Apollon Patras. They moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Nea Kifisia. Koroivos lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Apollon Patras' next round opponent will be Kolossos (#9) in Rodou. Koroivos will play at home against Kavala and hope to win that game.
