Regular Season Round 16: Pogon RS - Cieszyn 83-69

Everything could happen in Ruda Slaska at the game between two tied teams. Both seventh ranked Pogon RS and 9th ranked Cieszyn had identical 7-8 record. This time Pogon RS used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Cieszyn 83-69 on Saturday night. They outrebounded Cieszyn 47-25 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pogon RS looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tomasz Stankala (202-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) and guard Adam Wilkin (194-83) who added 17 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side forward Leszek Siwy (196-83) responded with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Lukasz Ochodek (197-82) scored 18 points. Four Cieszyn players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pogon RS (8-8) moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with AZS PCz and Zaglebie. Loser Cieszyn dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Pogon RS will face AZS PCz (#6) in Czestochowa in the next round. Cieszyn will play on the road against AZS PS Gliwice and hope to win that game.
