Regular Season Round 15: Mondragon - Zarautz 75-53

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 12th ranked Zarautz (3-8) was rolled over on the road by thirteenth ranked Mondragon (3-8) 75-53 on Saturday. The game without a history. Mondragon led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Mondragon forced 19 Zarautz turnovers. Zarautz was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Iker Barbero (192-92) who led his team to a victory scoring 8 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Benat Barberena (204-89) helped adding 12 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was Estanislao Andres (185-90) with 11 points and Aitzol Eguskitza scored 10 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mondragon moved-up to tenth place in Group A-A, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Zarautz. Mondragon will face higher ranked Estela (#4) in Santander in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
