Regular Season Round 15: Gandia Basquet - Almassera 90-78

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second-best Almassera's (11-3) road loss to first ranked Gandia Basquet (13-1) 78-90 on Saturday. Gandia Basquet made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Gandia Basquet outrebounded Almassera 47-31 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for naturalized American center Shalawn Miller (205-74, college: Mass.-Lowell) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Forward Daniel Marti (203-89, college: Union, TN) helped adding 19 points and 12 rebounds. Marti is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was swingman Roger Archiles (192-88) with 15 points and 4 assists and forward Carlos Rodriguez (194-82) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gandia Basquet. They maintain first place in Group E with 13-1 record. Loser Almassera keeps the second position with three games lost. Gandia Basquet will face Sagunto (#9) in Gilet in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Almassera's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Valencia Valencia-2.
