Regular Season Round 15: Myrtia - Paterna 71-65

Rather predictable result in Murcia where fourth ranked Myrtia (8-5) defeated 6th ranked Paterna (6-8) 71-65 on Saturday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Myrtia outrebounded Paterna 41-21 including a 25-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American power forward Nkosi Ali (213-92, college: Queens, NC) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Alejandro Gomez-Arrones (190-87) helped adding 14 points and 8 rebounds. Ali is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Myrtia players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was guard Alberto Gadea (186-85) with 15 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Jacobo Ijeilat (201-83) scored 12 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Myrtia maintains fourth place in Group E with 8-5 record. Loser Paterna keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Myrtia will face L`Alfas (#5) in Alfas Del Pi in the next round. Paterna will play at home against Cartagena and hope to win that game.
