Regular Season Round 15: Groningen - Rotterdam 87-66
Date: January 23, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Rotterdam (5-9) was rolled over on the road by fourth ranked Groningen (9-5) 87-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Rotterdam managed to win third quarter 20-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for Canadian power forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. American point guard Lance Jeter (190-88, college: Nebraska) helped adding 18 points and 8 rebounds. Four Groningen players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was center Lucas Steijn (211-86, college: Idaho St.) with 9 points and 15 rebounds and American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St., agency: Octagon Europe) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Groningen moved-up to third place, which they share with Den Bosch. Rotterdam at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Groningen is looking forward to face Leeuwarden (#5) on the road in the next round. Rotterdam will play against the league's second-placed Leiden and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
