No shocking result in a game when sixth ranked AZS UMCS (9-7) crushed 8th ranked Widzew (5-11) in Lublin 79-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. AZS UMCS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Widzew to just 7 points in fourth quarter. AZS UMCS forced 20 Widzew turnovers. The winners were led by American guard Jhasmin Player (178-87, college: Baylor, agency: Merit Management Group) who scored that evening 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Olivia Szumelda-Krzycka (185-90) supported her with 12 points and 4 assists. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. Even 14 points and 6 rebounds by Latvian center Aija Brumermane (192-86) did not help to save the game for Widzew. Swingman Julia Adamowicz (179-94, agency: Promotex) added 10 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. AZS UMCS maintains sixth position with 9-7 record. Widzew lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. AZS UMCS will meet higher ranked Sleza Wroclaw (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Widzew will play against the league's second-placed Artego Bydg. (#2) and hope to secure a win.
