Regular Season Round 15: Vichy Clermont - Lille 69-63

Date: January 23, 2016
Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked JA Vichy and 16th ranked Lille Metropole had identical 6-8 record. This time JA Vichy used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Lille 69-63 on Saturday night. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-63. Strangely Lille Metropole outrebounded JA Vichy 40-26 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American swingman Jason Williams (198-83, college: UTEP, agency: HMS) who led his team to a victory with 11 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Center Guy-Marc Michel (213-88, college: Indiana, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and naturalized Burkinabe Jean-Victor Traore (204-85) added 8 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Lille Metropole. Despite that victory JA Vichy went down to ninth position due to points difference, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the fourteenth place with nine games lost. JA Vichy will face Chorale de Roanne (#17) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lille Metropole will play against ALM Evreux and hope to win that game.
